Hotel Mil8: A new hotel nurturing the art of mountain living

With 42 spacious rooms and suites, Hotel MiL8 offers an inviting, contemporary feel with shimmering fabrics and ultra-modern furnishings.

Hotel MiL8 is a brand-new, chic alpine hotel, named after the altitude of the French ski resort of Avoriaz, set at 1,800m, making it the highest and most snow-sure village in the famed Portes du Soleil area. Fittingly positioned in the avant-garde resort created in 1966 as a fantasy-inspired getaway, Hotel Mil8 will welcome guests once its doors open for the winter 2019/20 ski season.

With 42 spacious rooms and suites, Hotel MiL8 offers an inviting, contemporary feel with shimmering fabrics and ultra-modern furnishings. Due to the hotel’s design, each room is individual, clad in light birch wood, reflecting the local, natural, alpine environment. Parisian interior designers Catherine and Jerome Clermont from Atelier Obermant have mirrored the hotel’s architecture, which plays on the contrast between curves and right angles and the combination of materials such as warm wood, leather and wool, and raw, urban concrete and steel.

The design of Hotel Mil8 is inspired by the incredible surrounding architectural geometry. Renowned local architect Herve Marullaz has created a butterfly-shaped structure that is at once in keeping and unique. Like a fan adorned with spacious balconies, the design allows guests stunning, panoramic views over the snow-topped roofs and peaks of this charming village resort. The hotel’s silver-grey larch facade blends with the traditional wooden tiles that characterise the facades and roofs of Avoriaz.

The glass-fronted wellness centre is designed across four levels so that each space allows guests a breath-taking view of the resort and beyond and includes an infinity pool, sauna, gym and massage room. Hotel MiL8 partners with organic skincare brand SNO eternelle, created by Olympic Silver medallist skier Raphaelle Monod, based on exceptional Nordic organic and active ingredients.

The cosy lobby welcomes guests to curl up on a vast leather sofa or armchair by the central open fireplace to read or relax with an aperitif. Hotel MiL8’s two restaurants include one at piste level for lunchtime skiers, while the ground floor space is a more intimate place for dinner, enhanced with wood-clad walls and discreet lighting. Chef creates authentic and inventive menus for on-trend cuisine that blends healthy eating with responsible local sourcing. The inviting and sociable bar will serve delicious hot chocolate, blends of coffee and fine teas, with cocktails and a selection of vintage wines. Sharing snacks include tempura, cheese platters and classic Panisse.

Children are warmly welcomed. Hotel MiL8 offers a play area which includes a mini climbing wall, as well as seasonal, healthy and appealing menus. For babies, the hotel provides cots, baby baths, thermometers, bottle warmers, changing mats and mountain strollers on request. Babysitting can be arranged with a supplementary charge.

Businesses can work in a stylish setting in the hotels 46m2 meeting space, with plenty of natural daylight and direct access to a private terrace, which  is complemented by team building activities within the resort

Hotel MiL8 partners with ESF ski school to organise ski lessons and ski hire for guests.

The hotel is two hour’s drive from Geneva International Airport and 90 minutes from Geneva train station.
